Pipe Rehabilitation with Cable Bursters – 40 Tons of Sheer Force
The TERRA-EXTRACTOR X 400 is an extremely powerful and productive cable burster for rehabilitating old and deteriorated pipelines. Powered by a robust 57 hp Hatz diesel engine, the X 400 achieves a maximum pulling force of 40 tons and 215 bar. New pipes up to 300 mm in diameter and lengths up to 150 m can be replaced. Equipped with a 25 mm diameter pulling cable, the X 400 can be used for replacing pipelines made of cast iron, steel, stoneware, or plastic. Its user-friendly, modular design simplifies work on the job site. It is easy to transport and quick and easy to install.

The X 400 has been specially developed for use in excavation pits. Thanks to its compact design, it requires minimal floor space and is ideal for the rehabilitation of horizontal pipes in confined spaces. Sturdy lifting eyes enable safe and reliable hoisting into the working area. The X 400 rests securely against the excavation pit with its front plate. One or two front boxes, each 1.0 m long, allow bursting tools and new pipes to be pulled directly into the excavation – efficiently, precisely and in a practical manner. The front old pipe blocking plate reliably stops the old pipe and ensures a smooth workflow. A well-designed TERRA solution for maximum efficiency, safety and practicality on your construction site.

The fully automatic cable drum handles the entire process of managing the tension cable, making the bursting process on site significantly easier. With a capacity of up to 150 m of special cable, it operates in sync with the X 400, ensuring an efficient and safe workflow.

The static cutters can be used to reliably burst old pipes made of steel, vitrified clay or grey cast iron. The front-centred cutter geometry ensures precise force transmission and effortlessly breaks even sockets with hard cement shells.

The roller cutters are ideal for efficiently bursting old plastic pipes. Interchangeable toothed discs allow for quick adaptation to a wide variety of pipe materials and ensure maximum flexibility in use.

The clamps on the TERRA cable burster are genuine high-tech components – designed to provide maximum holding force even on dirty or slippery ropes under full load. Four clamping jaws with a patented groove clearance ensure secure contact – on both new and used, dirty ropes. The main clamp grips the cable reliably, whilst the two hydraulic cylinders push it upwards with force. At the same time, the counter-clamp keeps the cable under constant tension whilst the main clamp retracts and re-engages. The result: maximum tensile force, maximum operational safety and an efficient workflow on site.

The cable coupling serves as a reliable connection between the 25 mm diameter pulling cable and the bursting tool. The pulling fork ensures a positive transmission of the high tensile forces.
Your advantages
Cost savings compared to open trench construction
The pipe bursting method allows for significant cost savings compared to open trench construction.
Plastic pipe rehabilitation
The X 400 allows for the easy rehabilitation of old plastic pipes over long distances. The PE toothed disc cutters are ideally suited for this, as the cutting forces act against the pulling direction.
Flexible cable up to 150 m long
The ø25 mm cable is flexible and can also be routed around bends. The cable is spooled on and off via a hydraulically operated drum. Lengths up to 150 m are achievable.
Rehabilitation of cast Iron or steel pipes
Even ductile cast iron, grey cast iron, or steel pipes can be rehabilitated with the right tools. The tools can be quickly assembled and disassembled using the fork-bolt system.
