TERRA was founded in 1975 by Dr. Eng. Gustav Jenne. In 1977, Dietmar and Silvia Jenne joined the company and, over the decades, steered the company to become an internationally successful and globally active provider of trenchless pipelaying solutions. At the same time, they laid the foundations for a modern and efficient mechanical engineering company – from development and design, through in-house manufacturing and production, to distribution and international sales.

Dietmar Jenne is the inventor of numerous patents related to piercing tools and inspired people with his enthusiasm and passion for trenchless pipeline installation. Through his innovative spirit and vision of a “world without trenches,” he laid the foundation for today’s trenchless pipeline installation.

This combination of innovative strength, technical expertise and in-house value creation remains the foundation of TERRA’s global success to this day.
 

TERRA is a third-generation family-run business. Since 2010, siblings Benjamin Jenne (CEO) and Mirjam Jenne (CFO) have jointly led the company, guiding it into the future with vision and innovation.

In 2010, TERRA relocated its headquarters to the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. Since then, development, production, and sales have been housed under one roof, enabling quick decision-making and efficient collaboration. The location is situated in the heart of a thriving Swiss industrial and technology region and is surrounded by numerous leading international manufacturers and suppliers.

Numerous innovations — including the piercing tool with its combination head, which remains unmatched to this day, and the world’s first fully electric 30-ton horizontal directional drill rig — are just a few of the milestones in our development that have had a lasting impact on the Trenchless industry. TERRA invests approximately 8 to 9% of its annual revenue in research and development of new machine systems.
