Pipe rehabilitation with the TERRA-EXTRACTOR X 400
Trenchless rehabilitation of a PE water pipeline
In this project, an existing PE water pipeline was successfully rehabilitated using the trenchless TERRA-EXTRACTOR X 400. A specialized PE roller blade was used, which cleanly cuts the old pipe during the pipe bursting process without compressing or uncontrollably deforming it.
The pipe bursting method involves cutting open the existing pipe while simultaneously expanding the path for the new line. The new water pipe is then pulled in during the same operation. This allows the existing pipeline to be efficiently replaced without having to excavate the entire surface along the route.

The TERRA-EXTRACTOR X 400 offers a pulling force of up to 40 tons for such rehabilitation projects. The pulling cable used is 150 m long with a diameter of 25 mm, making the system suitable for demanding pipe rehabilitation over longer distances. The cable is flexible and can also navigate around curves.
TERRA’s patented PE roller blade was used to cut the old PE pipe. The toothed disc cuts the old line cleanly without compressing it. Even couplings can be successfully cut through with the PE toothed disc blade.
The result: a new water pipeline, efficiently installed with minimal excavation and significantly reduced impact on the surrounding area.
